Wednesday 11th July:
Newick Sports Day
The children should wear a coloured t-shirt, the same colour as their house colour:
oak – green, beech – red, willow – blue, ash – yellow or white, their school PE shorts and trainers. It is important to also bring a hat, sun cream and a named water bottle.
The morning (9.30am) will be the Infant Sports Day, where there will be traditional individual competitive races for all infant children, followed by class relays that the juniors will come and support. These races will accrue house points.
The afternoon (1.30pm) will be the Junior Sports Day where individual races for the juniors will take place, followed by class relays that the infant will come and support. Again, these races will accumulate house points.
All the activities for Sports Week days will have approximate timings so you will know what your child’s class is doing and when. You are welcome to come and watch at any time during the day. An overview of Sports Day and a timetable will be available on the school website and we will display a large copy in the school foyer.
Friday 13th July:
Sports Skill Activity morning and afternoon
The children will spend the morning and afternoon participating in activities that the Year 6’s have been trained to lead.
Finally, a note about taking photographs on Sports Day. I am fully aware of just how important it is to parents and carers that you are able to take photographs of your child/children during Sports Week. Please feel free to take photographs of your child but please also be aware that not all children have permission for their photographs to be displayed on the school website or used for school purposes. Therefore under county guidelines, it is not advisable that photographs you take of your own child in school time are to be placed on social networking sites such as Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat if they contain other peoples’ children. The guidance states that photographs taken in school time should not be placed on social networking sites unless individuals have the express permission of all parents of children included in the photographs.
We are all looking forward to a fun couple of days and hope you are too!
